The Redhorse Foundation is a 501(c)(3) established to support the Soldiers of the 1st Squadron of the 113th Cavalry through scholarship grants for higher education and Moral/Welfare/Recreation activities.

To enable the 1-113 CAV Soldiers to be the best versions of themselves.
Background
The Redhorse Foundation founder and directors believe two primary elements of their lives were membership in the 113th CAV and their education. Soldiering is difficult and the 113th CAV Soldiers have accepted this challenge of selfless service. We seek to make that sacrifice less burdensome during their time in the 113th and enable them for future success.

COL Updegraff enlisted out of high school and served 6 years active duty in the US Navy in the advanced electronics field when he enrolled at Iowa State University. COL Updegraff entered OCS at the Iowa Military Academy once commissioned joined A/1-113 CAV where he served as a tank platoon leader, scout platoon leader and executive offi
COL Updegraff enlisted out of high school and served 6 years active duty in the US Navy in the advanced electronics field when he enrolled at Iowa State University. COL Updegraff entered OCS at the Iowa Military Academy once commissioned joined A/1-113 CAV where he served as a tank platoon leader, scout platoon leader and executive officer. COL Updegraff then commanded B/1-113 CAV.
COL Updegraff then served in the SQDRN staff as the S3P during the Kosovo 5B rotation then the S3 and finally the Squadron Executive Officer. COL Updegraff transferred to the 2BCT/34ID to serve as the Brigade S3 Plans before taking command of the 1-113 CAV for nearly 4 years which included the Squadron’s Afghanistan tour.
COL Updegraff returned to the 2BCT/34ID serving 3 years as the BCTs S3 when he transferred to JFHQ to become the Joint Staff Chief of Plans and finally the State G3.
COL Updegraff currently is employed at Versay Solutions where he is the Vice President of Solutions. In his spare time COL Updegraff enjoys Hunting, Skiing, SCUBA, and traveling.

Angela Taylor-Vanderpool is an innovative specialist in the field of social impact and project management. She is committed to creating and implementing solutions that drive social progress. With extensive experience in working with corporate, government, and nonprofit organizations, Angela has established herself as a liaison to achieve high-level organizational objectives.
Angela holds a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, an MBA, and a recent Master of Studies in Law from the University of Illinois - Urbana Champaign. Beyond work, Angela enjoys fitness, hiking, swimming, Scuba diving, and spending quality time with her two children and her adorable, sweet dog, Pluto.
In addition to her professional expertise, Angela is dedicated to supporting youth education and advancement initiatives. She is thrilled to be part of the Redhorse Foundation, working towards educational initiatives for the betterment of our nation's finest.
In January 1998, LTC Robinson enlisted as an M1A1 Abrams Turret Mechanic in the 113th Cavalry, Iowa Army National Guard. He graduated from Officer Candidate School in 2002 and was commissioned as an Armor officer.

LTC Robinson was deployed to Kosovo as a scout platoon leader from October 2003 to September 2004. In 2005, LTC Robinson began serving as a Military Intelligence officer with the 113th Cavalry and deployed to Afghanistan from 2009 to 2010. From 2010 to 2020, LTC Robinson filled various intelligence positions, including Intelligence Officer at 67th and 671st Troop Commands and the Joint Intelligence Officer for the Iowa National Guard.
In 2013, LTC Robinson began working full-time for the Iowa Army National Guard as an Intelligence Operations Specialist. From March to June 2020, LTC Robinson assisted the Iowa National Guard COVID-19 Task Force as the Joint intelligence officer. LTC Robinson then deployed to Kosovo a second time as the Regional Command East, Joint Implementation Commission Chief.
From October 2021 to October 2022, he was the full- time Officer in Charge 671st Troop Command. and the Commander of the Joint Force Headquarters, Iowa Army National Guard. Currently, he serves as the Iowa Army National Guard Director of Intelligence (G2).
Katie graduated from Iowa State University in 2020 with a bachelor's degree in Animal Ecology and a minor in Animal Science. She has worked as a Technical Project Specialist for the Polymer and Food Protection Consortium at Iowa State since graduation, where she researches bioaccumulating compounds derived from food packaging and polymers. She is honored to give back to the community that supported her family throughout her father's military service.
In her free time, Katie enjoys spending time with her husband Hunter and her two pet bunnies. She also enjoys exploring the kingdoms of dragons, high lords, wizards, and elves within her bookshelves.

Lieutenant Colonel Kent Greiner received his commission as a second lieutenant in 2005 from the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps at the University of Northern Iowa. He was then assigned to Company B 1st of the 133rd Infantry Battalion as a Rifle Platoon Leader and deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2006.
Upon redeployment in 2007, Lieutenant Colonel Greiner was reassigned as the Reconnaissance Platoon Leader for 1st of the 133rdInfantry Battalion. He then assumed command of Company D 1st of the 168thInfantry Battalion and deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in 2010. Following his deployment, Lieutenant Colonel Greiner served as commander of Headquarters and Headquarters Company 1st of the 168thInfantry Battalion until 2013.
After company command, Lieutenant Colonel Greiner was reassigned as Chief of Operations for 2nd Brigade of the 34thInfantry Division until 2015. After his time at the Brigade headquarters, Lieutenant Colonel Greiner was selected as Battalion Operations Officer and returned to the 1st of the 133rd Infantry Battalion from 2015 to 2018.
Following his Battalion Operations Officer assignment in 2018, Lieutenant Colonel Greiner served as Battalion Executive Officer for 1stof the 168th Infantry Battalion until 2020. He was then assigned as the Operations Officer for Camp Dodge Training Center until October 2022.
Lieutenant Colonel Greiner is currently assigned as Commander for 1st of the 113th Cavalry Squadron.
